40+ Educational Podcasts that Provide Teachers with Quality Professional Development

This year has been a challenging year in education for a lot of us. It seems teachers have been working full-time since March 2020 and have described the 2021-2022 school year as exhausting or as a “covid-hangover.” I am hoping that this summer helps teachers rest, relax, reflect, and rejuvenate.

Over the past 4 months, I have asked teachers at conferences what is one thing that they are excited about. One common answer was to relax with a beverage, snacks, and read a book or listen to a podcast. I couldn’t agree more with this statement. Unfortunately, my book reading and podcast consumption has been limited to my 15–minute commute to and from work. Nonetheless, I have been able to add some amazing podcasts to my ever-growing podcast list. As I stated last year, these podcasts are in no particular order and I write this blog post for three main reasons:

To create a list of phenomenal #EDUpodcasts to share with teachers.

The STEM Everyday podcast focuses on how teachers can infuse STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) into their everyday lessons. We explore and share great ideas that inspire students to take ownership in their learning. Each week I interview educators, innovators, & authors who are using creative ways to add STEM to their classrooms and communities everyday!

Chris does a fantastic job at bringing STEM to life in his podcasts. STEM is more than Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics… It is about going through a process and using the skills in the STEM subjects to identify problems, perusing research, brainstorming solutions, investigating data, and sharing the findings with others. Chris covers a variety of STEM topics, activities, and knowledge that is a reminder that no one is too young or too old to participate in STEM. STEM is a part of everyone’s life! My recent favorite episode is called Getting Started with Drones and Stem with guest Scott Buell. Activate your curiosity with this episode… ready, set, drone.

10 Minute Teacher Podcast Vicki Davis

Jam-packed with cool classrooms, cool apps, and cool teaching ideas, full-time teacher, Vicki Davis, who blogs as the Cool Cat Teacher, loves to interview awesome teachers and educators from around the world on this teacher podcast. Her goal is to interview the most in-classroom teachers on one helpful teacher podcast. She loves to encourage and share other education podcasts too. You can follow Vicki @coolcatteacher on all social media and join the conversation.

There are many things to love about Vicki’s podcast, but there are two reasons why I always come back for more. The first reason is because the episodes are short. Vicki gives you enough detail to allow you to reflect on the content and how the content impacts your teaching practice in under 10 minutes. I have an 18 minute commute to work each day. A 10-minute listen and an 8 minute reflection gets me ready for my day. The second reason is because the topics are interesting and cutting edge. For example, episode 774 called The Neuroscience of Surprise and How It Improves Learning with guest Dr. Michael Rousell was all about breaking down the article called, The Element of Surprise Helps Babies Learn Significantly Better and connecting to applications of surprise that might impact older learners.

The Creative Classroom John Spencer

John Spencer is passionate about seeing schools embrace creativity and design thinking. In this podcast, he explores the intersection of creative thinking and student learning.

If you know anything about Nick and myself, you know that we love it when students become content creators. When I see a blog post or podcast regarding creativity, I am immediately drawn to it. In early May, I found a John Spencer blog entitled “The Seven Types of Creative Teachers.” I am a firm believer that a creative teacher can help students bring out their inner creative side. In this blog and corresponding podcast episode, John names and characterizes the different types of creative minds. As I listened to his podcast, I immediately tried to see which mind type I would fit into as well as which mind types are represented in my classroom. At the end of the day, knowing more about your students and the way they think is very powerful when you have to make decisions!

Out of the Trenches Dana Goodier

Are you in the trenches as an educator? You are not alone. Hear from those who have been in the trenches and have managed to come out intact. Hear their stories!

Dana does a phenomenal job at inviting guests onto the show that have shown resilience and have overcome adversity. The challenges that her guests share are relatable to most if not all teachers. One of my favorite recent episodes was episode #155: with Tar’kesa Colvin. In this episode, Tar’kesa shares her journey of becoming an author and how she fought writers block. I have also been on Dana’s episode and you can find episode #141 here.

This Teacher Life Monica Genta

A weekly podcast for teachers full of tips and tricks, stories and strategies, celebrations and struggles, all from the real life we are living every day. Welcome to This Teacher Life with Monica Genta.

Monica brings a lot of excitement and passion to her episodes. She dives into interesting topics each week and shares tips and tricks with her listeners. One episode that I would encourage everyone to listen to is called UNO Classroom Strategy that Will Make Your Classroom Wild. In this episode she introduces a class competition that is centered around the game of Uno. If you are a teacher who wants to gamify your classroom, this episode will give you the knowledge needed to integrate a fun, gamified activity with a very limited time commitment.

For those who know me, I love writing down quotes. This episode had a fantastic quote regarding maintaining a safe learning environment while introducing competition within the classroom. Write this down, “We need to show students how to be graceful winners and respectful losers.” This is easy to preach but tough to teach.

The Interview Dudes Podcast Nathan, Jack, and Ben

These 3 friends began The Interview Dudes Podcast in July of 2019 at the age of 11, winning CTV/Myers Auto Kid of the week. Each week a new interview is released with the focus on different people with different and interesting jobs. They’ve interviewed people ranging from actor Ryan Reynolds to paleobotanist Kirk Johnson, to astronaut and Canadian MP Marc Garneau.

Welcome to the podcast that has made the list as a reminder that anyone who wants to podcast can podcast and because this podcast is awesome! Nathan, Jack, and Ben started their podcast at age 11 and they have interviewed several iconic people including Steve Martin, Ryan Reynolds, Kirk Johnson, and Marc Garneau. The Steve Martin interview is one that I highly recommend if you are into comedy and comedians. Nathan, Jack, and Ben are into their 12th season so there are a lot of interviews to choose from.

The Chey and Pav Show Chey and Pav

Chey Cheney and Pav Wander are two middle school teachers from Toronto, Canada. They have a passion for elevating and amplifying student voices while honoring students’ lived experiences and identity. “The Chey and Pav Show” takes educators and listeners through the “ins and outs” of the field of Teaching, Learning and Leadership. With their anecdotal and inviting banter, laced with caring insightfulness, the audience engages in a conversation that is surely eye-opening and impactful while tackling some of the real and ever-changing issues in Education!

The Staffroom Podcast becomes The Chey and Pav Show. New name but same great content! Chey and Pav never disappoint and are known for their deep insights to all things going on in education. I listen to every episode and it is one of my highly recommended!

Educrush Podcast Natalie Vardabasso and Alex Noel

A celebration of the brave humans who are reimagining education through a liberating praxis. Hosted by assessment specialist Natalie Vardabasso, and teacher Alex Noel, this is a show for change agents who aren’t afraid to ask uncomfortable questions, embrace complexity, and continuously empower themselves and others. Your next #EduCrush is right here!

The Educrush Podcast is another podcast that came to me via a twitter recommendation. I have enjoyed this podcast and their selection of educational topics. Hosts Alex and Natalie take turns inviting guests onto the show to take a deep dive into an educational hot topic. My favorite episode so far was called Project Feature: Nature Documentary Film Festival (w Jaclyn Demmers). In this episode, Nataile talks with Jaclyn Demmers explore how projects centered around creativity and curiosity can help students become better critical thinkers and problem solvers.

Adventures in Online Education Natalie Conway

Natalie Conway wants to talk to you. Specifically, she wants to chat about online education, a subject she is well versed in. Natalie has worked in large, corporate-managed online schools; small, independent online schools; and even worked as a consultant and instructional coach all while juggling the demands of raising a family and her own self-imposed reading regiment.

For me, when I see ‘online education’ I think of asynchronous learning with students being assigned discussion board posts and the weekly checkpoint assessments (my masters and doctorate study experience). During pandemic teaching, I’ve learned that online teaching is so much more than that. Within episodes of this podcast, host Natalie invites guests onto the show to fully break down a topic within education. Within the discussion, barriers are identified and solutions are brought to light. In the episode called, Greatest Hits: Universal Design for Learning, Natalie talks to Tim Batiuk about the Universal Design for Learning (UDL). There are a lot of takeaways from this episode as they break down the different pillars of UDL. My takeaway from this episode: UDL is a complex topic that is built on a bed of simplicities. The complexity is trying to figure out how your students are different and the best way(s) for them to learn. The simplicities are the differences that you can make in your instruction, project design, and classroom to bring out the best in all of your students. Go take a listen!

Teachernerdz Joe and Ron

Joe and Ron are self-proclaimed “teachernerdz” geeking out on all things education. They are looking to move educational practices out of the 1900’s factory workers model to a student-driven classroom full of empathetic, creative, and collaborative students willing to take risks. Join them as they chat with educators from around the world, discussing educational tools, techniques, ideas, policies, & much more. Joe is a 3rd-grade teacher and Ron a technology teacher, grades 3-8. Thank you for listening and becoming one of the teachernerdz.

I don’t know where to start about the Teachernerdz podcast. I guess I’ll start at the beginning, the ukulele intro for the podcast gets two enthusiastic thumbs up. Hosts Joe and Ron make the conversation within this podcast fun and they make you feel like you are just hanging out with them and their guests. I recommend listening to this podcast, but here are a few episodes to get you started: UDL talks with Kyle Niemis in episode 19 and episode 21, episode 56 with Kellie Ojeda from Project Invent, and episode 66 talking about cyber security.

Unprofessional Development Tudisco and Mealey

Hate formal PD, but love casual talks about the craft of teaching and what works and doesn’t? Join us and our guests from every part of the Eduverse and beyond!

The Unprofessional Development Podcast is one of my favorite podcasts that challenges the status quo that is found within education. Mr. English and Mr. Math typically has some awesome guests that visit their show. Their tangents and rants often lead to a great discussion all while keeping a laid back, sometimes silly, oftentimes funny vibe to the episode. One episode that I really enjoyed was episode 99 called Ethan Lee, the Energetic Science teacher. In this episode, they talk about Newton’s three laws of teaching and some of the realizations students should leave with after graduating.

The Edtech News Brief Jake Miller

Educational Technology Enthusiast, teacher, and #EduDuctTape Author Jake Miller shares the essential news in EdTech and keeps it brief, clear, and concise. Want to know what’s new, changed, updated, or deprecated? Wonder who changed their pricing or paid plan? Jake tells you here. Just the news, nothing more, nothing less, in less time than a teacher gets to eat their lunch.

Jake has put out a lot of amazing content over the past year. He published a book Educational Duct Tape: An EdTech Integration Mindset. I have read this book and would highly recommend this book to teachers of all edtech levels. Jake also put out a few new episodes of the EduDuctTape Podcast before adding a new podcast to the mix. The new podcast is called The Edtech News Brief. This podcast is an amazing fit for my morning commute because it is jam-packed with edtech news and updates and because the episodes are 15-17 minutes. If anyone appreciates his character voices (like I do) found in many of EduDuctTape episodes, great news… he brings those back in his news briefs (see episode 5 called, “Google Docs Dropdowns + Emoji Reactions, Student Canva Course, & Microsoft Teams Video Feedback”).

Teach Better Talk Podcast Rae Hughart and Jeff Gargas

The Teach Better Talk Podcast is a weekly show featuring expert educators ready to share progressive tactics to reach more students. Teach Better Talk is created by teachers, and fueled by passion! Every week, Rae Hughart and Jeff Gargas, of the Teach Better Team and www.teachbetter.com, chat with educators from all around the world, discussing failures, successes, exciting new tactics, and dishing out loads of tips, tricks, and advice for educators of all levels. Publishing two educator interviews and at least one bonus episode a week – this won’t be a show you want to miss!

Team Rae or Team Jeff? No matter who you choose, one thing you can’t argue is how well Jeff and Rae have banter down to a science! The Teach Better Talk Podcast was one of the first educational podcasts that I have ever listened to and one that I will continue to listen to. Jeff and Rae do an amazing job of showcasing their guests, while keeping the conversation light and fun. One of my recent favorites of this podcast was Episode 257 with Sara Jessee where they chat about keeping education fun and creative even in the most challenging situations.

Teachers on Fire Tim Cavey

Profiling agents of growth and transformation in K-12 education. Advocating for collaboration, communication, creation > consumption, critical thinking, design thinking, growth mindset, inquiry, PBL, and strategic uses of technology in education

Tim is another EDU podcaster who is very uplifting and does a phenomenal job showcasing amazing educators and their stories. One of my favorite Teachers on Fire episodes was Episode 162 with Erika Sandstrom. Erika is an amazing person who does phenomenal things with a greenscreen. In this episode, Erika provides many ways to teach green-screening and dives into how green-screening can help with Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

Aspire: The Leadership Development Podcast Josh Stamper

Joshua Stamper provides, to those who are looking to build their leadership capacity, an opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced and accomplished educational leaders. As we grow in our leadership skills, it’s imperative to learn from other leader’s successes, trials and misconceptions. Join us each week as our guests provide valuable stories, resources and advice to enhance your leadership journey.

Have you ever heard the phrase “I am the Jack of all trades, but the King of none?” Well, ladies and gentlemen meet the King of all trades and the guy who will help Jack out along the way! Joshua is a father, administrator, podcast network manager, and a podcast host. Though I have never met him in person, his podcast (and other professional development contributions) are personable and relatable enough to make you feel that you are getting to know him through his educational journey. In Joshua’s podcast, Aspire: The Leadership Development Podcast, he invites guests onto the podcast to share their leadership journey in education. One of my favorite Aspire episodes is The Teachers of OZ: Featuring Dr. Nathan Lang-Raad, where Joshua and Dr. Lang-Raad talk about the coaching model of questioning as a way to find solutions to problems. This discussion is supported by Dr. Lang-Raad’s book The Teachers of OZ.

AsktheTechCoach Jeff Bradbury

Ask the Tech Coach is a weekly podcast designed to support Tech Coaches and Instructional Technology Specialists. Each week, host Jeff Bradbury (TeacherCast Educational Network) and Susan Vincentz (Tech Imaginations) discusses relevant topics in Educational Technology.

Jeff Bradbury (@AskTheTechCoach) and Susan Vincentz (@sv314dws) are a dynamic duo and can often serve the role of an online tech coach. Each episode, they identify a common edtech problem, provide solutions to overcome barriers, and give you some helpful recommendations to help you as you work to develop a set of skills. One episode that I suggest listening to is called “How To Create Successful Coaching Cycles With Your Teachers.” This episode is jam-packed with content and covers everything from defining coaching cycles to taking steps to carry out your goals.

EduDuctTape Jake Miller

The #EduDuctTape Podcast focuses on viewing #edtech as a tool used to meet goals, address learning standards, and solve problems in the classroom, much as duct tape is used as a tool that solves a plethora of problems in our lives. Each episode features a different inspiring educator helping Jake answer “teacher questions” with awesome ideas for using tech in the classroom.

This podcast checks off many of my boxes when I look for a podcast. Examples through experience… check. Metaphors… double check. The occasional Piggy and Gerald impersonations… triple check! I’m sold. Jake does a fantastic job in so many areas. His light and uplifting podcast is very informative and his dad jokes are legendary! One of my favorite EduDuctTape episodes is called Claudio Zavala: Hearing from Your Learners with Adobe’s Creativity Tools. In this episode, they talk about empowering students to be creative and some of the edtech tools that will support students and teachers in that journey! This timely episode jived perfectly with my 2020-2021 goal of starting a student publications network for students at my school HVSPN.com.

The Suite Talk Kim Mattina

The Suite Talk will provide educators with comfortable and simple conversations about new or existing features of Google for Education and practical ideas to implement Google for Education and other technology tools effectively into the classroom. Let’s connect, collaborate, share, and learn together while helping others integrate technology into the classroom. Let’s #PayitForward!

Kim Mattina’s mantra #PayitForward is a way of life. Kim provides a lot of great content with her regular scheduled podcast. She has had a lot of EDU Rockstars on her show and even more best practices shared. My favorite episode was Episode 138 called “A Slidesmania Extravaganza” with Paula from @slidesmania. If you have not checked out this episode, I suggest listening to it… it’s life changing!

Check it Out Brian Briggs and Ryan O’Donnell

Checking out some cool tools and apps for the classroom. Also deep dive into current educational topics. So, check this out!

Brian and Ryan have a podcast recipe that works for me. They are fun, laid back, informative, and remind me of my college IMPROV comedy group. They provide a plethora of things in education to check out. For example, in Episode 133 called What Color is Your Hybrid, Ryan and Brian share updates on what is going on with them (congrats on the new job), people in education who are creating and sharing awesome activities (thank you Meredith Akers), and podcasts that they are listening to. Go check them out!

The Chromebook Classroom John Sowash

A podcast focused on sharing how Chromebooks are impacting education around the world. Hosted by author and trainer John Sowash who interviews a variety of guests who share their Chromebook Classroom experience.

Anytime there is an issue with a Chromebook or if I need to figure out how to get the Chromebook to serve a certain purpose, I go over to John Sowash’s website and check out his resources and his podcast The Chromebook Classroom Podcast. I can’t pick out just one recommended episode… they’re all good! If you are in a 1:1 Chromebook school, if your kids or students have Chromebooks, or if you have an interest in Google, then go check out John’s site and podcast!

Fresh Air At Five Bryon Carpenter

FreshAirAtFive is my regular attempt to exercise by walking about my neighborhood, to take in Podcast content or an audio book, then reflect in an unedited video which I finally post it to my Twitter Channel. This podcast will be a regular collection of the audio from these selfie-videos as a collection of about a week or so of these daily videos.

It has been awesome to watch Bryon’s journey as he goes from vlogger to podcaster. What Bryon provides is a phenomenal service to educators. Bryon listens to podcasts, provides a summary of the episode, and shares how certain talking points influence his teaching practice. I have been introduced or reintroduced to several podcasts because of his podcast. For this Bryon, I thank you!

Partial Credit Jeffery Heil, Donnie Piercey, and Jesse Lubinsky**

Partial Credit is the podcast that brings together education, pop-culture, and shenanigans! Your hosts, Jeffery Heil, Donnie Piercey, and Jesse Lubinsky, span 3 generations and they’ve got you covered coast to coast. Sit back, relax, and earn your partial credit.

These guys are funny, quick-witted, and downright hilarious. They pull abstract topics and connect them real educational scenarios. To this day, my favorite episode is their first called The Fantasy Teacher Movie Draft, where Jeffery, Donnie, and Jesse choose a team of teachers (famous movie characters that were teachers from the 90’s) to run their school and then explain why they selected that character. This podcast is topnotch in every way minus Donnie’s choice of a MLB team (episode 5.5)!

The EdTech Bites Podcast Gabriel Carrillo

EdTech Bites is a Podcast about all things EdTech and Food hosted by Gabriel Carrillo. He interviews teachers, leaders, and innovators to discuss the latest trends in educational technology. Many times, while sharing a meal together. So subscribe, tell a friend or colleague, and remember that great conversations happen when we break bread with great people. Buen Provecho!

Gabriel’s podcast brings a lot to the table…literally. This podcast is based off of edtech, food, and fellowship. In each episode, the listener get to meet a new edtech or educational leader, learn about some skill, edtech tool, or practice, while diving into some amazing food! One of my favorite episodes was Episode 88 with guest Thomas Murray. In this episode Gabriel and Thomas debunk myths regarding edtech integration while eating buffalo wings! I would argue that a fully fed brain brings out the smarts in everyone… Want proof? Listen to the EdTech Bites Podcast!

Leader of Learning Dr. Dan Kreiness

The Leader Of Learning podcast explores transformational leadership in education. It is where educators can come find inspiration to transform education through effective leadership. It is a community where educators can realize their leadership potential regardless of their position or title.

Dr. Dan does a fantastic job of tackling the hot topics that everyone wants to know about! I have been a long-time listener and have enjoyed growing professionally by reflecting on a lot of topics that have been discussed in this podcast. Some of my favorite all-time podcast episodes are his new Devil’s Edvocate episodes of the Leader of Learning Podcast. For the Devil’s Edvocate episodes, he is joined by Rachelle Dene-Poth and sometimes an additional guest to debate about educational topics. Just choosing one f these episodes is hard, but I would go with the Growth Mindset episode with Ken Sheldon!

Blended Learning in Action Charity Dodd

In this podcast, hosted by LINC Transformation Agent Charity Todd, we talk with educators about some of the blended learning best practices that they use in their classrooms and the obstacles that they had to overcome along the way.

The Blended Learning in Action Podcast stemmed off of the popular Tuesday night (8pm EST) #BLinAction twitter chat moderated by Charity Dodd. This podcast does a great job celebrating the accomplishments of the guests. In the episode called “Celebrating Black Brilliance with Rohiatou Siby and Cassondra Corbin-Thaddies,” Charity, Rohiatou, and Cassondra talk about black brilliance and how to celebrate black brilliance! This episode is full of impactful insights and is definitely worth a listen!

Tech Study Hall Dr. Richard Smith

Class is in session! Tech Study Hall is a place where educators can go to recharge and keep their ideas flowing to find creative ways to accent tech to their lessons. Tech Study Hall is a great place to take small steps to your tech independence in a safe space for exploring. Remember that even a small step forward is movement toward a greater journey! Let’s learn together!

Tech Study Hall is one of my newer podcasts that I listen to. Dr. Smith has an amazing flow to his episodes and often features a guest with some type of edtech introduction, best practice, and lesson. One of my favorite episodes was Episode 108: Approaches to Simultaneous Learning with Dr. Catlin Tucker. This episode examined how teachers were teaching during the pandemic and offered methods of best practice to get students to be more engaged. Even though we are going back to face to face classrooms, there are a lot of useful practices that should be carried over to the in-person lessons. This episode is worth a listen!

The House of Edtech Chris Nesi

The podcast helping educators integrate technology by sharing stories from teachers, explaining the lessons learned, and sharing actionable easy #edtech tips and tools — because whether you use it or not, technology is changing the way we teach and how our students learn.

The House of Edtech is the first educational podcast that I ever listened to! Chris does a phenomenal job providing his listeners with engaging segments that are well thought-out and articulated. He highlights current edtech practices, edtech tools, and people who are doing great things. Each year, Mr. Nesi gets his listeners to send in audio files of their favorite edtech tools in an episode called the Smackdown. I would highly recommend listening to the 2020 Smackdown featuring Derek Larson and several other teachers who submitted their go-to edtech tools!

The TNT Edtech Podcast Scott Nunes and Matthew Ketchum

Welcome to TNT EDTECH PODCAST, join Scott the Tech Coach and Matthew the Tech Director as we share all we know about educational technology, cool tools pro tips, and interviews with inspiring leaders in ed-tech!

Scott and Matthew are a dynamic duo from the west coast! Nick and I had a blast doing a crossover episode with Scott called “The Clash of the Edtech Titans: East meets West” back in November of 2020. Scott and Matthew do an amazing job feeding off of each other’s enthusiasm for edtech and education. You can see evidence of this in Episode 74 called “Take a Free Virtual Tour with Scott Nunes and Matthew Ketchum.”

Shukes and Giff Kim Pollishuke and Jen Giffen

Shukes and Giff The Podcast is a weekly podcast by Canadian educators Kim Pollishuke (@KimPollishuke) and Jen Giffen (@VirtualGiff). The podcast aims to share EdTech treasures with the audience in hopes of creating an AHA moment and encouraging listeners to take those AHAs and give it a go.

Shukes and Giff is a fun laid-back podcast that often gets me to laugh at least once within the first 2 minutes of the episode! The clean, but funny joke to start an episode is a guaranteed laugh! What do you call a pile of cats? A “meowtain!” I stole that one from a friend… thanks Kyle Niemis! Ok, to Shukes and Giff! Currently, Shukes (Kim Pollishuke) has been on hiatus, but the quality of content has been on point! Jen “Giff” Giffen has done an amazing job getting some awesome guests onto the show. Some of these guests include Season 4 Episode 8’s Kim Stroebel (@StrobelED), Season 4 Episode 5’s Bryon Carpenter (@BryonCar), and Season 4 Episode 10’s Stephanie Howell (@mrshowell24). Lots of great edtech finds in these episodes which I definitely will “give it a go!”

Tre’ Gammage is an education consultant with the Gammage Consulting Group where we help K – 12 school’s implement social and emotional learning programs. He is also the host of the Dash podcast since 2017, every week we feature educator’s who facilitate solutions for school communities.

One of my professional goals in 2021 was to become more in-tuned with SEL and SEL resources. I stumbled upon Mr. Gammage’s podcast in February and immediately made it a must listen. The episode that hooked me was Episode 184 Just Like Music Hip Hop & SEL with David Spellmon. I am a big fan of the growth mindset and the conversation they had regarding how to implement SEL into classrooms was extremely powerful! My Edtech Life Alfonso Mendoza

The goal of My EdTech Life! is to connect people around the world with one another and so that they can one day collaborate together on a project or the next big idea. When you see me on my show, you are truly seeing the real me. You are seeing someone that genuinely cares about learning from my guest and wants to share their story with the world.

I have had the privilege to meet Alfonso Mendoza virtually this year in a few #EDUPodcaster Roundtables as well as in some Clubhouse discussions rooms. Alfonso is authentic, knowledgeable, and one of the nicest guys you will meet. In his podcast, Alfonso does an amazing job at showcasing the accomplishments of his guests, showcasing a lot of hidden gem edtech tools, and connecting everything to best practice. One of my favorite episodes is Episode 42 called “Episode 42: A Journey From IT Technician to Google Innovator” featuring A to the B to the I to the D, (aka Abid Patel @theabidpatel). Alfonso and Abid talk about Abid’s journey from IT Technician to Google Innovator and Google Academy Coach. Don’t get me wrong, the story is interesting but getting those two in a room to share knowledge is EPIC!

Easy Edtech Podcast Monica Burns

Monica Burns from the popular EdTech blog ClassTechTips brings you teaching strategies, tips and activity ideas. Each podcast focuses on how to make EdTech integration easy with a shout out to favorite EdTech tools for classrooms. Monica provides actionable, relevant tips for teachers so you can make this school year the best one yet! Join author, speaker, and blogger, Dr. Monica Burns for an EdTech podcast that helps take the stress out of integrating education technology into your classroom.

Monica does a fantastic job with her podcast and her blog. I really enjoy the organization and clarity of her content. A niche within education that I always look to improve on is my social media skills. Monica is very talented at being at the forefront of the learning curve of social media and then sharing out what she knows. Two examples that I can think of off the top of my head is the episode on Clubhouse called “What Educators Need to Know About Clubhouse with Marlena Gross-Taylor” and another episode called “Instagram Reels: A Creative Way to Share EdTech Tips.” I would highly suggest making the Easy Edtech Podcast a part of your weekly podcast listens!

ReflectED AJ Bianco

ReflectED is the podcast where AJ Bianco shares his perspective on the challenges and successes that are taking place in our schools and focuses on goal-setting and plans for future improvement. Through rich conversation and meaningful dialogue, we discuss practical ways to make schools better for students and educators.

AJ has two of the most amazing podcast voices. The first voice… his regular voice. The second voice… Lego Batman! Along with his amazing podcast voices, AJ is the host of the ReflectED podcast. One of the most impactful practices of a teacher is the art of reflection. On this podcast, AJ does an amazing job at getting listeners to reflect on important issues in education. One of my favorite episodes of ReflectED is episode 10 called “What Are We Teaching Them?” In this episode AJ talks with Mike Brilla and Dave Franfiosa about the purpose and process of teaching and whether or not we are doing a disservice to our students when we teach to a test. This podcast is one that I leave in my podcast rotation because it helps me think deeper into the topics that educators often talk about!

The Planning Period Podcast Brad Shreffler

Planning Period Podcast is a show for relaxed and casual conversations between host Brad Shreffler and education stakeholders worldwide, discussing the biggest issues facing education and what we can do to address them. Brad and his guests look ahead at future issues while addressing with the realities of today. This show is for anyone who finds themselves getting into deep conversations in the breakroom during their planning period or anyone who wishes they could.

The Planning Period Podcast is a podcast that I started to listen to in the fall of 2020 when I was looking to find podcasts that Dr. Sheldon Eakins has spoken on. This was by far one of my best accidental podcast finds because Brad’s ability to lead an interview and decipher content is equally awesome! Every couple of months I reflect and modify my personal and professional goals. One goal that has been set is on the topic of equity. I found Brad’s Episode 135 with Dr. Eakins called Leading Equity. I enjoyed the knowledge shared during this episode where they broke down currents event, history, racial equity, cultural equity, and individual equity. I liked the banter and direction of this podcast so much that I am now a Planning Period Podcast regular listener.

The Make Learning Magical Podcast was introduced to me by Scott Nunes of the TNT Edtech Podcast. We were hanging out over Streamyard before recording our crossover episode and I asked him which podcasts he listened to. Without hesitation, he rambled about 10 off with this one beginning his list and being one that I didn’t know about. I knew of Tisha Richmond (@tishrich) from many different professional development settings, but I had no clue she had a podcast! After listening to her episode on gamification with Michael Matera (@mrmatera), I was hooked. The next two weeks, I found myself binging episodes and I can happily report that I am all caught up!

I was always taught to never judge a book by it’s cover, but I must admit that I often judge a podcast by it’s name! This was definitely the case with Good News, Brad News. To me, the title of this podcast suggests that Brad is clever, funny, and has a something to share! My hunch was correct. Brad is a great conversationalist and seems to enjoy highlighted the successes of others. His episode with the amazing Livia Chan (@LiviaChanL) is one that I really enjoyed. In this episode they talk about building relationships through action. This is a recommended episode!

ThriveinEDU Rachelle Dene Poth

The THRIVEinEDU podcast is where learning happens and random thoughts related to all things education are shared. Listen in each week as I talk about some of the emerging trends and topics in education. Topics include Artificial Intelligence, AR/VR, Global Collaborations, Preparing Students for the Future, PBL, SEL, Coding, the Power of PLNS and more.

For anyone who knows Rachelle, she is busy! You can find her teaching, podcasting, livestreaming, authoring (she writes a lot of books), etc. I often make the joke with her that it is unfair that she gets 30 hours in her day when everyone else gets 24! I honestly don’t know how she does it and how she produces so much quality content! Over the past year, Rachelle has talked a lot about preparing students for the future. Whether it is providing teachers with tools to help students learn about SEL skills or creating digital portfolios to learn real-world skills. I would strongly encourage you to listen to her episode called Spaces EDU for Digital Portfolios and Learning Journeys and the episode called Learning Journeys with Digital Portfolios.

The Staffroom Chey Cheney & Pav Wander (Renamed the Chey and Pav Show)

Chey and Pav, two experienced middle school teachers from the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, Canada, take listeners through the in’s and out’s of the field of Teaching, Learning and Leadership. Through their anecdotal, yet often comedic banter, laced with caring insightfulness, they take their audience into a conversation that is surely eye-opening and entertaining, while tackling some of the real, and ever-changing issues that exist in Education.

The Staffroom Podcast with Chey and Pav is a podcast that I often take notes on. I find their podcast as educational, fun, challenging, and intentionally relevant. This is one podcast that I will typically revisit episodes to make sure I didn’t miss anything because is it full of awesomeness! One of my favorite episodes is Pav’s Interlude #5: I’m trying to get better. Anytime someone is vulnerable and acknowledges that they can be better, I am immediately locked in. The reason, typically these episodes are ones that are relatable to my own practice. This episode resonated with me! Another favorite (among many with this podcast) was Episode 75: The Power of Stories with Beth Lyons. In my opinion, narratives and stories are one of the most important skills to carry over from schooling to real-life. Narratives are everywhere and a part of everything! This episode breaks down storytelling through and through and is a must listen!

Welcome to the In AWE Podcast where we amplify women by sharing their unique stories and empower a community through the mission in their message. Series formats highlight incredible women who leave us in awe of their impact on our world. The podcast is a feature developed by Sarah Johnson, former English teacher and school principal turned author and entrepreneur.

Sarah is a very positive and uplifting person. These characteristics are reflected in her podcast that shines light on women and their accomplishments. The amount of passion and excitement that Sarah puts into her podcast is inspiring. One of my favorite episodes is Jolt #53: Awe Inspiring Moments-Celebrating a Milestone where she talks about the first female Vice President Kamala Harris. If you ever need a podcast to share with a female student to encourage them to keep stretching their limits, this is the podcast to share!

The Dr. Will Show Will Deyamport, III, Ed.D.

The Dr. Will Show Podcast brings together educators and entrepreneurs to talk about how you can take control of your life, your career, and your finances. This teacher-centered podcast gets you the straight dope on how you can monetize your talents beyond the walls of their classrooms.

Dr. Will is dope… period! He is an educator, an entrepreneur, and an entertainer. Every episode is jam-packed full of energy. Each episode he interviews a guest and they talk about ways for educators to brand themselves and monetize their talents. One of my favorite Dr. Will shows is with Tara Martin (@TaraMartinEDU) called How To Become An Educational Consultant: The Real Factor. In this episode, they talk about Tara’s journey and how she became a teacher, speaker, coach, and author as well as the art of delivering a speech. If you need a little pick me up in your day, don’t go for that second cup of coffee, just listen to an episode of Dr. Will!

ClassCast Podcast Ryan Tibbens

The ClassCast Podcast is the best education podcast for everyone, not just teachers. ClassCast is about honest discourse and critical thinking to better understand education, about big, outside-the-box ideas to improve education for students and society. The ClassCast Podcast features award-winning teacher Ryan Tibbens discussing school, education, careers, and culture with a diverse collection of entrepreneurs, community leaders, teachers, and students.

Ryan Tibbens does an amazing job at breaking down the hot topics found within education. His episodes cover teacher preparation, school choice, school reform, narratives, and much more. One of my favorite episodes that he has put out recently is Ep.065 — Dr. Sam Fecich — Improving Education via Teacher Preparation. In this episode, Ryan and Dr. Sam (@Sfecich) spend time on identifying the needs of pre-service teachers, addressing the national teacher shortage, why pedagogy and content both matter.

The Lasting Learning Podcast Dave Schmittou

Discussing the imperfections of our journeys.‬ ‪Sharing the obstacles we shape into opportunities.‬ ‪Focusing on the focus.‬ This is Lasting Learning!‬ In this raw, uncut, unscripted podcast we explore ways to make learning last. We talk to people who have found what matters. We talk to difference makers. This isn’t a show about gimmicks and tricks. It’s a show about learning that lasts.

What do you get when you mold an articulate leader with brains and a quick-witted impractical joker together? The answer, Dave Schmittou… respectfully. I read Dave’s book “It’s like riding a bike” and I felt like it was full of wisdom and it was conversational, light, and fun. It was a book that I wish there was a part 2 or an unpublished chapter… more on this later. Fast-forward to a Wednesday Teach Better Brain Break and I heard Dave talk about peanut butter whiskey and that he had a podcast called The Lasting Learning Podcast. Yes, there were other things in between but I did manage to secure the two most interesting parts of the conversation. So with this news, I did the most planned out thing I have done in a while… I bought a bottle of Screwball peanut butter whiskey and listened to Episode 142-Bruce Reicher explains evergreen learning and multi-media in a middle school. I promise you neither the whiskey or the episode disappointed and it made for a nice little Saturday afternoon break in the Guise household. So to bring this full circle, I feel as if the podcast is an extension to many of Dave’s books. I am a fan!

Three Caffeinated Coaches Georgina Dean, Shannon Moore, and Becky Lin

We aim to enhance the practices of instructional coaches, educators, leaders by discussing research, interviewing experts in their fields, sharing our experiences, and engaging in a unique book study experiences.

This is a newer podcast and one that I plan on keeping in my podcast rotation. This podcast is a wealth of knowledge with how many resources Georgina, Shannon, and Becky share! One episode that I enjoyed and listened to a couple of times was called “Episode #2: Getting Comfortable with Discomfort.” In this episode, they talk about adapting to new educational climates is necessary and that it is okay to be uncomfortable. As I reflected on this episode, it reminded me of a reoccurring theme in Nick and my podcast that I like to call the tech comfortable vs the tech uncomfortable. This is the thought that teachers need to dive in to edtech (when it will enhance a lesson) and realize they don’t need to be pro’s, they just need to know enough to start and learn more about the tool as they go. A big thank you to the Three Caffeinated Coaches! I hope we cross paths and that I can buy you a cup of coffee!

We’ll celebrate students, educators, and schools who are getting it right and give tools and guidance for inspiring everyone else.
  - The Overthrowing Education podcast was one of the first podcasts that was suggested after Nick and I released our list of podcasts we listened to in Episode 86 EdTech Professional Development & Resources for Summer 2021. Traditionally with new (to me) podcasts, I look for an episode that would resonate with my interests. For this reason, I chose the most recent episode called “Using Play and Game-Based Learning” with Lindsay Portnoy. This episode is jam-packed with best practices, strategies, and tips for implementing games into the classroom setting. I will be going back to listen to some of the other episodes and would encourage you to check out this podcast!
