ABOUT THE POSITION: The University of Alabama in Huntsville College of Education seeks an Assistant
Professor of Instructional Leadership (tenure-track or clinical faculty). The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic individual committed
to taking a leadership position in our new Instructional Leadership licensure program, as well as teaching undergraduate and graduate
courses in one of the following disciplines: Elementary Education, Secondary History/Social Studies Education, and/or Special Education.

The applicant must hold an earned doctorate in Instructional Leadership (educational administration) or a related field and have a
minimum of three years of documented experience as an assistant principal, principal, central office supervisor, assistant superintendent,
or superintendent, or administrator of career and technical education, or any three years combination thereof. Additionally, the preferred
applicant will have at least 18 graduate credits or hold an advanced license in one of the following disciplines: Elementary Education,
Secondary History/Social Studies Education, and/or Special Education.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Teach
    graduate courses in Instructional Leadership and graduate and undergraduate courses in Elementary Education, Secondary History/Social
    Science Education, or Special Education;
  • Ensure courses in the Instructional Leadership graduate program are appropriately aligned
    with state program approval and national accreditation requirements;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to conduct program/course planning
    and revisions;
  • Engage in scholarly endeavors, including creating peer-reviewed publications, presenting research findings at
    national and international conferences, as well as demonstrate the willingness and ability to secure external funding to advance one’s
    research agenda;
  • Provide academic advisement and mentoring;
  • Provide service to the University, College, and
    Profession;
  • Engage in program recruitment and retention efforts, as well as support academic advising.

Minimum
Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in Instructional Leadership (Educational Administration) from an accredited institution;
  • Three (3) or more years of successful experience as an assistant principal, principal, central office supervisor, assistant
    superintendent, or superintendent, or administrator of career and technical education, or any three years combination thereof;
  • Three (3) or more years of successful experience as a full-time classroom teacher in a public school;
  • Understanding of
    curriculum standards, planning, and implementation;
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse
    school-aged students;
  • Demonstrated potential for scholarly and creative activity;
  • Knowledge of research and current best
    practices for teaching diverse students;
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development to maintain currency in the field;
  • Experience using current technology to support teaching and learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) or
    more years of successful experience as an assistant principal, principal, central office supervisor, assistant superintendent,
    superintendent, or administrator of career and technical education, or any three-year combination thereof;
  • Five (5) or more years
    of successful experience as a full-time classroom teacher in a public school;
  • State Certification as a k12 teacher;
  • One or
    more years of successful full-time university teaching experience delivering undergraduate and graduate coursework in Instructional
    Leadership instruction in both traditional and online environments;
  • Knowledge and experience in designing and facilitating online
    and blended delivery courses.

Rank and Salary: This position is at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-earning or clinical
line). The salary will be competitive and commensurate with rank, experience, and qualifications. An excellent comprehensive benefits
