According to multiple sources, 4 January is Tom Thumb Day. It’s the birthday of Charles Sherman Stratton, who was born in 1838 and was known on stage as “Tom Thumb.” Mr. Stratton was reported to be under 1 m tall (< 39 inches). I was tad reluctant about including this day in the days feature here, because I fear some people may regard individuals of short stature as freaks and because I am not sure that height, even rare cases such as this one, constitute a disability.
