For some of the books (see my entire Pinterest board of books, here) that have really shaped my understanding of this parenting philosophy, I encourage you to check out some of these books, as well:

1. Secret of Childhood – Maria Montessori
After having read a few of Maria Montessori‘s books, I have to say that this is my absolute favorite, and the one I would most recommend you start with. Her writing is rich and definitely takes time to process and read through, but it is so worth the time.
Her writing brings a similar approach to what can often seem like a very daunting topic. Reading her book felt totally approachable and easy to read, with bite-sized chapters that really hit home.
As the very first Montessori book I read, this book was responsible for really causing me to fall in love with Montessori, and the model of respectful parenting I would later adopt. Again, like her other books, this one is a heavy read, full of her extensive research and groundbreaking philosophy, most definitely worth purchasing to refer back to, time and again.
Alfie Kohn is a prolific writer, and this book, in particular, really struck a chord with me.
As always, thank you so much for reading! For more posts on where to start with Montessori check out these posts: Learning.html”>To Read | Montessori-5-ways-to-set-up.html”>Set Up a Shelf | Montessori-fy-your-home.html”>How to Montessori-fy Your Home
