Montessori Vertebrates of the Continents Printable Materials
2 min read
My small group coaching group asked for a classification of animals printable for January, and I went a little overboard with this one! I decided to make a Vertebrates of the Continents bundle, which ended up being the largest bundle I’ve ever created. I couldn’t possibly include every animal that’s found on each continent, so I decided to focus on animals that are common and/or distinctive to that region of the world. Since this material is so big, I also separated each part out by continent in case you want to get just a little bit at a time. Here’s everything that’s included:
Vertebrates of North America: Along with definitions of each of the classes of vertebrates, there are 10 amphibians, 10 birds, 10 fish, 10 mammals, and 10 reptiles found in North America as both 3-part cards and posters. Each 3-part card has an orange border to match the Montessori continent of North America, and it also lists the class underneath each animal’s name.
Vertebrates of South America: Along with definitions of each of the classes of vertebrates, there are 10 amphibians, 10 birds, 10 fish, 10 mammals, and 10 reptiles found in South America as both 3-part cards and posters. Each 3-part card has a pink border to match the Montessori continent of South America, and it also lists the class underneath each animal’s name.
Vertebrates of Europe: Along with definitions of each of the classes of vertebrates, there are 10 amphibians, 10 birds, 10 fish, 10 mammals, and 10 reptiles found in Europe as both 3-part cards and posters. Each 3-part card has a red border to match the Montessori continent of Europe, and it also lists the class underneath each animal’s name.
Vertebrates of Asia: Along with definitions of each of the classes of vertebrates, there are 10 amphibians, 10 birds, 10 fish, 10 mammals, and 10 reptiles found in Asia as both 3-part cards and posters. Each 3-part card has a yellow border to match the Montessori continent of Asia and it also lists the class underneath each animal’s name.
Vertebrates of Africa: Along with definitions of each of the classes of vertebrates, there are 10 amphibians, 10 birds, 10 fish, 10 mammals, and 10 reptiles found in Africa as both 3-part cards and posters. Each 3-part card has a green border to match the Montessori continent of Africa, and it also lists the class underneath each animal’s name.
Vertebrates of Oceania: Along with definitions of each of the classes of vertebrates, there are 10 amphibians, 10 birds, 10 fish, 10 mammals, and 10 reptiles found in Oceania as both 3-part cards and posters. Each 3-part card has a brown border to match the Montessori continent of Oceania, and it also lists the class underneath each animal’s name.
Vertebrates of Antarctica: Along with definitions of each of the classes of vertebrates, there are 10 birds and 10 mammals found in Antarctica as both 3-part cards and posters. There are no amphibians or reptiles found in Antarctica and too few fish species to include. Each 3-part card has a white border to match the Montessori continent of Antarctica, and it also lists the class underneath each animal’s name.
Each continent bundle also includes several templates for completing Animal Research Projects on an animal that interests the child.
While you can purchase each of those continent bundles individually, you’ll save money if you buy the whole big bundle all together, for a total of 320 vertebrates across all of the continents!
